They come from different families and different states. While Davion is the only child of his parents, Donovan has only one sibling, a younger sister named Jordan Mitchell.

What Do Donovan Mitchell and Davion Mitchell Have in Common?

Donovan Mitchell and Davion Mitchell are not brothers; they are not related in any way and neither are they friends. However, they have a lot in common which led to speculations about them being brothers. Donovan Mitchell and Davion Mitchell have the same surname and similar-sounding first names. They are also both African-Americans and are of similar height. While Davion Mitchell is 6 feet (1.83 m) tall, Donovan Mitchell is slightly taller at 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m).

Moreso, they are both professional basketball players. Davion Mitchell, the younger of the two, is relatively new to the NBA. He only joined the big league in 2021 after he was drafted by the Sacramento Kings. On the other hand, Donovan Mitchell who is two years older has been playing in the league since 2017 when he was drafted by the Denver Nuggets and traded to the Utah Jazz. He currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Donovan Mitchell was born Donovan Mitchell Jr. to Donovan Sr. and Nicole Mitchell. He was born in Elmsford, New York on the 7th of September 1996; so he is currently 27 years old. His mother Nicole is of Panamanian descent and she used to work as a teacher whereas his father played baseball in Minor League Baseball.

In addition to that, his father worked for the New York Mets as its director of player relations. Because of this, Donovan Mitchell was very familiar with the sports of baseball and admired players like David Wright and Scott Kazmir. However, he chose to play basketball.

While he was born in Elmsford, New York, where he was raised alongside a younger sister named Jordan, Donovan spent most of his childhood in Connecticut. For his elementary education, he attended Greenwich Country Day School and then proceeded to Canterbury School in New Milford. Both of these schools are located in Connecticut.

Donovan Mitchell later transferred to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire where he continued to play basketball. He eventually graduated from Brewster and committed to playing college basketball at the University of Louisville.

He Plays for Cleveland Cavaliers 

Donovan played college basketball with the Louisville Cardinals men’s basketball team from 2015 to 2017. He was named to the First-team All-ACC in the latter year and would later be drafted that same year to play in the NBA. He was selected by the Denver Nuggets as the 13th overall pick and soon signed a four-year contract with the side. He played for the Nuggets until September 2022 when he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Donovan is hardly one of the best players in the league but as a shooting guard, he has had a successful career. He is a three-time NBA All-Star, the NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion of 2018, and was also named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2018.

Davion Mitchell is a Native of Georgia Native

Davion Mitchell whose full name is Davion De’Monte Earl Mitchell was born to Earl Legette and Lakisha Mitchell. He was born on the 5th of September 1998 in Hinesville, Georgia, where he was also raised. Davion is 25 years old and the only child of his parents. Apart from the name of his parents and the fact that he is an African American, a lot of things are yet to be learned about the family he came from.

That’s also the case with upbringing but we can confirm that Davion Mitchell attended Liberty County High School, a public high school in Hinesville, Georgia where he played basketball. He was named Savannah Morning News Player of the Year after he led his team to its first Class 4A state title. Davion also competed on the Amateur Athletic Union circuit and was a consensus four-star recruit when it was time for college basketball.

He Plays for the Sacramento Kings 

Davion Mitchell received offers from several universities, including the likes of Clemson, Georgia, UConn, and Cincinnati but he committed to play college basketball with the Auburn Tigers of Auburn University. But then after his freshman season, he transferred to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and played for the Baylor Bears from 2019 to 2021.

Davion Mitchell had a highly-decorated collegiate career which positioned him as a top prospect for the 2021 NBA draft after he forwent his remaining college eligibility. The Sacramento Kings selected him with the ninth pick in the first round of the draft and shortly afterward, he signed his rookie contract.
