Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has led a protest, accusing the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration of neglecting market women, who she described as a key part of the womenfolk, who voted him into power.
The Nigerian market women, Folasade says had worked for the success of the party during the electioneering campaign but that the government of the day was not carrying them along as should be.
Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, who holds the position of the Iyaloja General of the Nigerian Market women, led hundreds of market women to besiege the National Secretariat of APC in Abuja yesterday, to table their grievances before the party leadership.

In her words, she said she was representing and speaking the minds of the market women and men of Nigeria. According to her, there has been alleged agitations, and the people believed that the government of the day was not carrying them along as it should be.
Lamenting that they worked round the clock for the party during the electioneering campaign, but after the inauguration most of them are not carried along in this administration.
“We only hear in the news that the first lady is doing a programme, this and that, and we just see it in the news, they wouldn’t allow me be, all the complaints come to my table morning and night.
“And I say okay, enough is enough… We even heard that another FCT woman leader is organizing another market association named Association of Organised Market People in Abuja, and most of these people are PDP members, they were nowhere to be found when we were working for the party day and night.
“So, now our people are not happy because they need to benefit from where they believe they have the right to, and all we need, all we are crying for, is for the government to give them a sense of belonging and carry them along properly.”
She said the market women were only crying out for the government to give them a sense of belonging and carry them along properly in this administration.
Responding to questions which inquired if her father, Asiwaju Tinubu was aware of this movement and agitation, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo said;
Because I am the daughter of the National leader of APC doesn’t mean that I must not represent my people well, I have to represent my people’s opinion.
The market women leader stressed that she was not mobilizing against the party, but was solidly behind the party, as she has and will still work for the party, but it does not stop her from saying the truth.
