Today marks the 70th birthday of Kind Sunny Ade and the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari sent his birthday wishes to the music legend.
It’s an unusual thing to get birthday wishes from a president, but like we all know, King Sunny Ade is not just anyone, he is one of the pioneers of Nigerian music who deserves more than just birthday wishes.
However, President Buhari sent a congratulatory message to the singer in a statement issued by Femi Adesina, the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
Buhari also commended KSA for not only bringing joy to many hearts and homes through his music but for also serving as an inspiration and a mentor to upcoming artistes.
“President Buhari joins friends, family and fans of the multi-talented instrumentalist, songwriter and dancer in celebrating his remarkable life,” the statement read. “The Septuagenarian had over the years brought pride to his country by mastering his art against all odds, taking the African musical genre to the global stage.
“King Sunny Ade’s love for humanity, especially the less privileged, by setting up a foundation that caters for the needs of others and I pray that almighty God would grant the versatile entertainer longer life, good health and more strength.”
Meanwhile, the singer has planned to celebrate his 70th birthday in a grand style as he holds a long birthday celebration which started earlier this month and runs till December. This will eventually be marked as the longest birthday celebration in Nigeria.
Family and friends of KSB first hosted him in Houston and hopefully he plans to celebrate in various locations including his homeland, Nigeria. Happy Birthday to the one and only King Sunny Ade, Long live your music!
