Stephen Odimgbe is From Anambra State but was Born and Raised in Lagos

Stephen Emeka Odimgbe was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on September 26, 1989, to parents Jack and Judy Odimgbe. Although he was born and raised in Western Nigeria, he hails from the Eastern part of the country, precisely from Ihiala, Anambra State.

The 35-year-old actor is of Igbo ethnicity and African descent. His star sign falls under the Libra zodiac. Other physical details about him apart from his height have been withheld from the internet.

Although Stephen is immensely popular in Nigerian entertainment spaces, his family background is rather sketchy especially since he declines to reveal what his parents do for a living. He also has a couple of younger siblings but only one of them is known to the public which is Softkid.

His younger brother Softkid is an upcoming Nigerian musician known only by his stage name and not his real one. The rest are completely anonymous.

As a young boy, Stephen already knew that he wanted to be an actor. Because of his undisputed good looks, he was cast in tons of church dramas as well as high school plays. He attended primary and secondary school in private schools in Lagos from where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) and West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE), respectively.

He then got admitted into Madonna University where he wanted to obtain his first degree but dropped out due to unknown reasons. He decided to try again, this time at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University located in Awka, Anambra State. He studied Theater Arts at the university and graduated with his B.A. in 2015. Shortly after graduation, Stephen landed his very first official movie role, and thus began his successful foray into Nollywood.

Stephen Odimgbe Has Featured in Over 100 Nollywood Movies in His 7-Year Career

In 2015, the Nigerian movie industry gained a new screen god in the person of Stephen. He was only 26 years old at the time and he has been active on screen for just about seven years. In these past years, Stephen’s filmography has numbered nearly a hundred. Unsurprisingly, this young actor has successfully carved a niche in the industry as a typical Nollywood heartthrob, a category in which the likes of IK Ogbonna, Michael Godson, Mike Ezuruonye, have dominated for years.

Although a relative newbie in the industry, Stephen has fashioned himself into one of the industry’s most marketable lover boys, preferring to take on romantic roles that often depict him as a prince, king, lover, or husband. His movies range from epic, to contemporary, right down to the glamour movies usually shown at the cinema.

He has featured alongside young attractive actors like Yul Edochie, Destiny Etiko, Regina Daniels, Ken Erics, Chizzy Alichi, and many others. Some of his features include movies like ‘The Handsome Ladies Man’, where he played the lead role, and the 2019 romance telenovela, ‘Fulfilled Future’. He also appeared in the movies ‘The Man That Stole My Heart Pt 1’ and ‘The Pool Party Before The Wedding Ceremony’.

In the course of acting, Stephen has been nominated for a few awards including ‘Best New Actor’ and ‘Most Promising Actor at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA). His net worth is currently in the range of $1 million and $5 million as of 2021.

Stephen Odimbge Got His ‘Flashboy’ Nickname from a Movie Role

In Nollywood circles, you might not easily recognize Stephen if you mention his real name. He is in the league of the likes of “Aki and PawPaw” and “Osuofia”, all of whom are better recognized by their nicknames. Similar to those actors, he got his nickname from playing a movie character and the name has stuck with him.

From 2016 to 2018, Stephen Odimgbe appeared in a major supporting role on the GLO television series, ‘Professor Johnbull’ which featured Nollywood veterans Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, and Mercy Johnson. In the series, he played the role of a philanderer and playboy named “Flashboy” or “Flash” for short.

He was the mischievous friend of the character Churchill, played by Pope Odonwodo. Some of the cast members in the movie included Osita Iheme, Angela Okorie, Bimbo Akintola, UC Ukeje, and Bovi.

Is Stephen Odimgbe Engaged or Married?

While it is assumed that the handsome actor must have no shortage of ladies willing to settle down with him, the reality is that he is still a single man. The eligible bachelor has played several roles in movies where he was required to get married to a female co-star but none of these has been real. This is in response to reports that have been peddled, concerning his marriage to fellow thespian, Regina Daniels.

Apparently, the pictures of the two in wedding costumes were just props for the film, ‘Left Over’. Even so, Regina is happily married to Nigerian billionaire, Ned Nwoko. Today, Stephen Odimgbe remains very much a bachelor. While it looks like things might remain that way for the actor, there is no way to decipher any further details about his romantic life since he keeps everything under a tight lid.
