He then returned to Lagos state to study acting at the Stella Damasus Arts Foundation (SDAF).
He Began His Acting Career in 2009
Stan has always known he would do well as an actor and to achieve his goal, he returned to the classroom to get himself grounded on the nitty-gritty of acting. After his time at the Stella Damasus Arts Foundation, he set off his acting career by doing a few scenes on some TV series, including Private Sector and the multiple awards-winning series, Tinsel.
Taking occasional roles was all Stan got as a starter in the Nigerian movie industry. However, his passion for the field forced him to search for more significant roles. Fortunately, he got a lead role in 2012 with another TV series, The Benjamins, and in the musical thriller film Hoodrush, which stars actors like Bimbo Akintola, OC Ukeje, and Gabriel Afolayan.
In 2013, Stan Nze got yet another lead role in the movie named Murder At Prime Suites, where he played the role of “Adolf” a serial killer with bipolar affective disorder. But while his co-actors received awards nominations, he didn’t, and it almost shattered his dream of being at the top echelon of the industry.
Luck finally shined on Stan Nze as he landed a lead role in the remake of Amaka Igwe’s Rattlesnake, which eventually earned him an award for ‘Best Actor in Drama’ at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Stan Nze’s role as Ahanna in the 2020 movie directed by Ramsey Nouah did not only offer the actor his much-anticipated rise to fame but also was a platform he used to get to meet and work with some of Nollywood legends like Chiwetalu Agu, Osas Ighodaro, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, and Ayo Makun.
Speaking about his role, Nze also revealed that he had to watch and familiarise himself with the project just so he would break free from Francis Duru’s acting style of acting Ahannajust so he could make the character unique in the new movie.
Though he described his role as one of the most challenging roles he’s ever taken, the actor was quick to add that the good energy he received from his co-actors made his work much easier, and to crown it all up, the movie brought him up for four major awards out of which he won three. The 45 minutes film grossed $70 million, listing it as one of the highest-grossing Nigerian films of all time.
Since his emergence into the limelight, the Nollywood actor has appeared in scores of other mind-blowing movies, some of which have topped various Nollywood best movie chats.
