Serena Williams stepmother, Lakeisha Juanita Williams has alleged that the tennis star ordered her to leave her matrimonial home.
In court documents filed in Florida, Serena’s stepmom begged the court to stop her husband Richard Williams from throwing her out on the street, according to TMZ.
In June 2017, 75-year-old Richard filed for divorce from 38-year-old Lakeisha Juanita Williams after 7 years of marriage which produced a 5-year-old son.
Lakeisha claims Richard has ordered her out of the lavish West Palm Beach house in Florida where they lived owned by his daughter, Serena Williams.
In the court docs, Lakeisha says Serena’s legal team fired off demand letters “requesting she and the child vacate the home and threatened to change the locks.” So far, Lakeisha has refused to leave.
Lakeisha’s Attorney accused Serena of “bullying and kicking the wife and the child to the curb, and during the school year no less!” He is seeking an emergency stay of the eviction and asked a judge to allow his client to live at the marital residence “free from intimidation and threats to be thrown out”.
Serena’s stepmom has also filed an emergency motion begging the court to force the sale of another property they owned together because she needs the money following the couple’s divorce.
Richard’s divorce petition cites infidelity and accused Lakeisha of stealing his social security number and forging his name on a Quit Claim deed, which would have given her ownership of their house.
The petition also accused Lakeisha of taking his guns, and being an alcoholic who left him for a man who “could pose a danger to the minor child.”
Richard thinks Lakeisha’s lifestyle endangers the child. According to the docs, she’s now living with someone who has “serious criminal, felony charges pending.”
Serena Williams has been away from competition since winning the Australian Open in January while pregnant with her first child.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion welcomed her first child with fiancé and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in Florida on Sept. 35-year-old Serena gave birth to a baby girl at a hospital in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday, September 1.
Serena accidentally announced her pregnancy in a Snapchat photo on April 19. She posted a selfie that showed off her tiny baby bump, writing that she was “20 weeks” pregnant.
Following the announcement, Williams shared several more baby bump pictures on social media and opened up about becoming a mom. She also graced the August 2017 cover of Vanity Fair, stripping down to just a thong.
“I don’t know what to do with a baby,” she told the magazine. “I have nothing … I’ve done absolutely nothing for the baby room.”
The athlete learned that she was expecting shortly before winning the Australian Open in January. She was so shocked that she took six pregnancy tests. “[I] did a double take and my heart dropped,” she told Vanity Fair. “Like literally, it dropped.”
Williams and 34-year-old Ohanian got engaged in December 2016. They had been secretly dating for 15 months after meeting in Rome.
