The numerous performances of ‘strange’ miracles by South African pastors have kept them in the news for some years now. In recent past we have had South African pastors give members of their church petrol to drink , literally drive over them with a car, bless the underwear of women and even sell pictures they took of heaven with a cell phone.
Another pastor, Prophet Rufus Phala of AK Spiritual Christian Church in Makgodu, Limpopo, has, however, decided to take the game a step higher by shocking both members of his church and outsiders when he made some of his congregation to drink Dettol.
According to Daily Sun South Africa, Prophet Rufus Phala made his church members to drink the antiseptic liquid during Sunday service, with the promise that they will be healed of their sickness.
“I know Dettol is harmful, but God instructed me to use it. I was the first one to drink it,” he claimed. He also claimed he has been getting WhatsApp messages from people who say they have been healed.
Nevertheless, Dr. Mabowa Makhomisane, a general practitioner, explained that Dettol is harmless when mixed with bath water or when cleaning a wound.
“But if it goes into your stomach and gets absorbed into your body, it decreases the amount of oxygen in your system. This might cause to you collapse and die.
“If you vomit the liquid into your lungs, it causes aspiration pneumonia. Your lungs will get swollen and you won’t be able to breathe.”
Dr. Makhomisane therefore advised the people who drank the liquid to consult a doctor to check whether any damage was done.
This is coming just a few weeks after another pastor in Limpopo, Prophet Lethebo Rabalago, sprayed his congregation with Doom insect killer to heal and deliver them from evil.
