This is coming shortly after Charly Boy and his group announced the suspension of his participation in the #ResumeOrResign protest following the attack on the protesters by hoodlums at the popular Wuse Market, Abuja.
The protesters had recently begun a campaign demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari – who is on a medical vacation in the UK – resumes or resigns.
BuzzNigeria recalls that in February 2017, 2face had organised the #IStandWithNigeriaprotest and Charly Boy had thrown in his full support for the movement. The protesters had demanded that the APC-led government fulfills the change they promised in six major aspects; Transparency, Security, Cost of Government, Social Justice and Corruption, and Power, with sub-categories attached under each.
Though 2face eventually pulled out at the last minute due to police reports that hoodlums were planning to hijack the protest, it still held in major cities across the country. After 2face cancelled the protest, Charly Boy further reaffirmed his commitment to start a new onslaught against the state of the nation.
Disappointed at 2face’s silence towards the #ResumeOrResign protest, Charly Boy in a new video posted on Instagram challenged the pop legend to speak out and join the clamour for better governance. Hear him:
“My guy 2face, I am not happy with you. Since I couldn’t reach you directly, I decided to reach you through this medium.
“Do you remember when you called on Nigerian youths to come out and protest? We obeyed because we thought you had a good intention to stand up to the injustices against the youths and masses of this country.
“But, as you retreated into a hole since then, I am very pained. If a beckon of hope like you can be lily-livered when people need you more, what is your problem?
“2face are you happy with the way Nigeria is headed? Are you saying you have not heard about the resume or resign protest, why are you not involved?”
Meanwhile, Charly Boy’s wife popularly known as Lady D, has thrown her weight behind her embattled husband, declaring that “he’s doing what God wants him to do.”
In an Instagram post, Lady D reappraised her husband’s lifestyle, saying that he has always been spiritual. She wrote:
“Charles has always been spiritual. He has always given himself to service. He has always been an inspiration to millions of frustrated Nigerian youths. His lifestyle has made thousands chase their dreams with tenacity and never gave up on themselves.
“Yes, people were not too sure of what to make of him because of his theatrics he kept confusing people who couldn’t see the humour of the sense in how he was acting out.
“He’s been there, done that, and seen that. What else can be new for him? So I guess is Jesus time from here on and that’s all the better for him. He’s doing what God wants him to do. And it’s people like him who can reach out to people like you.”
