Following the controversial win of Reekado Banks as the Next Rated Act at the 2015 Headies, which held on January 1, 2016, the singer has received his car prize.
Reekado Banks won the award, beating Korede Bello, the then signed YBNL rapper Lil Kesh and G-Worldwide singer Kiss Daniel, among others. Recall that a severe beef resulted from Bank’s win, as a lot of controversial issues erupted, courtesy, YBNL boss Olamide.
The YBNL boss was not happy about the outcome of the announcement, arguing that his artist Kesh was more deserving of the award. Even Phyno, who is a friend of the YBNL crew was in support that Banks didn’t deserve the award. However, Mavin boss Don Jazzy had something to say about that, and the drama went on until Dangote stepped in to settle the dispute.

Months later, Olamide officially tendered an apology to the Headies organisers on his conduct at the show.
Both artists have since moved on, with Lil Kesh dropping his debut album, “Y.A.G.I” earlier in the year and Reekado about to drop his soon, which he titles “Spotlight”.
The album “Spotlight” is expected to contain collaborations with Nigerian and international acts with his popular songs – ‘Katapot’, ‘Sugar baby’, ‘Corner’, ‘Tomorrow’, and ‘Oluwa ni’ , ‘Standard’ amongst others expected on the 18 album tracklist.
Meanwhile, Bank’s single ‘Oluwa ni’ has been nominated for Best Song at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards coming up in September 2016.
