The American renowned RnB crooner, Robert Kelly aka R Kelly, has been sued in court by a Mississipi sheriff who claims the singer was having an affair with the deputy’s wife for five years.
In the lawsuit filed by the Kenny Bryant who was Hinds County Deputy, he claimed that the trouble with his marriage caused him an emotional, psychological and financial loss.”
According to him, the affair between his wife, Asia Childress and R Kelly started at the singer’s concerts in 2012 – the same year the couple got married.
Bryant claims Childress started a relationship with the recording artist. Even though she assured her husband that the relationship had ended, the sheriff said the affair was rekindled just a few months later.
As for his financial ruin, Bryant claims his wife persuaded him to move to Atlanta so that she could pursue career opportunities.
This made him quit his sheriff’s deputy job and they relocated only to later suspect that his wife’s real motive in moving was to continue her affair, while he was unable to find meaningful employment.
Here’s Bryant statement in the lawsuit as quoted by the Daily Mail.
“Each time R Kelly would have a concert in a nearby state, Childress would disappear to unite with her lover.
“Time after time, R Kelly cuckolded Bryant, with blatant disregard for Bryant’s and Childress’ vows.”
His complaint comes after his wife filed for a divorce despite his alleged efforts to rehabilitate the marriage failed because he “could not prevail against R Kelly’s continued sexual overtures to Childress.”
The ‘I Believe I can Fly’ singer is no stranger to lawsuit and controversy.
R Kelly has received a countless share of lawsuits including child pornographic alligations, sex escapades with minors.
Back in 2002, MTV News reported that Kelly was sued by a 17-year-old girl who claimed the singer impregnated her and then forced her to have an abortion that he paid for.
A video emerged showing a man alleged to be Kelly engaging in sex with, and urinating on, an underage girl.
The source of the controversial video was unknown. The news broke as R Kelly was to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics.
In interviews with WMAQ television of Chicago and MTV News, the best RnB award-winning singer said he was not the man in the video.
