Wednesday, April 12, 2017, may have been a bad day for some people but for Oluwakemi Funmilayo Aminu and her husband Imudia Uduehi, it is a day they will forever remember for good as they welcomed a set of quintuplets who are all strong and healthy alongside their mother.
The babies, all girls, were born at the National Hospital, Abuja.
The new father who is currently unemployed, is a native of Ekpoma, Esan West local government area, Edo state, while the wife is a civil servant with the Nigerian Population Commission (NPC), Abuja.
Sharing the story online, a media practitioner, Lara Wise, disclosed that Kemi got pregnant shortly after their wedding and barely 8 months after she conceived naturally, doctors at the National hospital had to bring out her babies through C.S.
Despite their boundless joy over their gift of five children at the same time, the couple is faced with a major issue of caring for the quintuplet alone and as a result, are pleading with the government and Nigerians to come to their aid.
The husband said:
“I am delighted and I thank God to have blessed us with these healthy children, I know it is a huge responsibility because it is not easy to raise even one child.
“I am, however, appealing to the government, well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organizations to come and support my family in raising the children.”
The new mother too revealed that:
“My husband is presently searching for a job and I am a civil servant with Nigerian Population Commission in Abuja. We both live in one bedroom apartment in Lugbe because that is what we can afford.
“But now that God has blessed us with five children, we will definitely need a bigger apartment and money to meet their needs, especially buying baby food and clothes.”
The husband’s father also took to his Facebook handle to thank God for blessing him.
“What shall I say unto the Lord, All I want to say is thank you, Lord, Thank you, Lord!!! Glory be to GOD! The one who has given us pleasant surprises by adding five tour grandchildren at a go. Join me in praising the Lord I have seen his goodness.”
In a similar incident which happened on January 10, 2017, a couple was blessed with quintuplets comprising three girls and two boys after waiting for ten years.
The Quintuplets were delivered at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Cross River State and it was the first time the UCTH, and Cross River State as a whole would witness such a miracle.
The proud father of the quintuplets, Dr. Ekpo Edet, could not hold back his joy and excitement as he could be seen beaming with smiles.
Dr. Edet said;
“I want to thank God almighty, He’s a faithful God. The first time in the history of Cross River State, the first time in the history of UCTH. Five at a go!
“God has been just been faithful as we have concluded the first phase and the doctors have confirmed that the babies are kicking. We are entering into the second phase and I know it’s not going to be easy but I solicit for support from all well-meaning Nigerians, all my friends and well-wishers.”
