Six governors including those from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have been selected to visit the President, Muhammadu Buhari in London.
According to the Punch, the visit which was confirmed by the Presidency is scheduled for Tuesday.
The report also stated that the governors were selected from the six geo-political zones of the country and are expected to have lunch with the president on Wednesday July 26th.
Four governors selected for the trip are from the south-south, south-east, north-west and south-west respectively, while two others are from the north-east and north-central.
Listed among the six governors are Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom) and Dave Umahi (Ebonyi).
This is coming few days after the President met with governors and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in London.
Those present at the meeting with Mr. President were governor Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa), Gov. Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Gov. Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Gov. Rochas Okorocha, APC National Chairman, John Oyegun, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, among other leaders of the party
The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said the President was very cheerful and has not lost any bit of his sense of humour.
He said that the party delegation spent more than an hour with President Buhari over lunch and that he (Buhari) was delighted to receive the
delegation and asked each governor about affairs in his state.
However, the presidency have come under attack for presenting an old picture taken in Abuja sometime ago as the picture taken in London during the APC leaders’ visit to Mr. president.
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode alleged the picture showing some APC Governors, party Chairman, John Oyegun and President Muhammadu Buhari, purportedly taken in London, is “old, fake’and taken in Abuja some time back and not during London visit.
“I have been reliably informed that the picture was taken in Abuja some time back and not yesterday in London.
“Quite apart from that, even though the picture was meant to have been taken in London curiously all the drinks on the table are Nigerian products and Nigerian-made.
“Did the Governors take all those drinks along with them to London when they went to see the President?, he had quarried.
Also reacting to picture a former special adviser on media during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration Reno Omori wrote:
“To all ignorant people asking why there was no video of President Muhammadu Buhari’s interactions with the APC delegation, don’t you know Lai Mohammed banned foreign videos?
“Shooting and publicizing any such video from London will be in contravention of the “relevant sections of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code” according to Lai!
“In as much as our President is abroad, the only legal option available to Nigerians who want to see him is through pictures. This is a law abiding administration and President Buhari will not break the law!.
Nollywood actor, Chidi Mokeme has also ridiculed the picture via his Instagram page.
Describing the emergency meeting held in London on Sunday as a house warming of new seat of government in Abuja house, London, he wrote:
“Members of the kitchen cabinet permitted some members of the balcony cabinet to attend the house warming of our new seat of government in Abuja house, London.
“The visitors were treated to sumptuous buffet of #MadeInNigeria menu, drinks and Benue banana…..
“As usual, our well mannered elders maintained the tradition of not talking while you eat.
“So enjoy the images as we await further details. #ChidiSense”.
The President has been in the U.K for almost 80 days where he has been undergoing medical treatment.
