Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers has on Wednesday suspended four commissioners, Head of Service and Special Adviser on Lands for three months.
The Governor’s Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, who announced this in a statement in Port Harcourt, however, did not state the reason for the governor’s decision.
The affected commissioners are Dr. John Bazia (Chieftaincy Affairs), Mrs. Tonye Briggs-Oniyide (Culture and Tourism), Fred Kpakol (Finance) and Mr. Boma Iyaye (Sports).
He said the Head of Service, Mr. Rufus Godwin and Mr Anugbun Onuoha, Special Adviser on Lands were also affected by the suspension.
Meanwhile, the APC governorship candidate for the April 11, 2015, election in the state, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has accused Governor Nyesom Wike, of masterminding political instability in the state for selfish ends.
In a statement personally signed, by the now director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), he challenged Wike to provide answers to the spate of kidnapping and killing in the state.
“Which government has borrowed more money under one year than all our previous governments from 1967 put together? Which government withdrew nearly 400 undergraduates sent on scholarship abroad by Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to different countries?
“Which government deceitfully wants to take credit for projects conceived and delivered by the Amaechi government? Under the watch of which government were more policemen and security personnel killed by criminals armed by same government agents than have been killed ever in our history from the creation of Rivers State?
“Under whose government is multiple taxation legalized? Touting legalized? Extortion made legal? It wondered why the state government has been deceiving the people by embarking on what he called “endless circle of biometrics as excuse to owe workers and pensioners six months salaries.”
As at the time of filing this report, Governor Wike, has not responded to these accusations.
