Nkechi Blessing is 35 years old and was born under the Aquarius zodiac sign on February 14, 1989, in Surulere, Lagos State. Although she grew up in Western Nigeria, in places like Surulere and Abule Egba, she has Igbo roots.

Her mother, Gloria Obasi Sunday, popularly called Iya Nkechi, was a native of Abia State, located in the Eastern part of Nigeria. This explains her Igbo and Yoruba dual ethnicity, and she is fluent in both languages.

Her mother used to be a very successful restaurant owner, but sadly, she passed away in 2021. On the other hand, there isn’t much to know about her father as he died when she was still very young. It has been said that Nkechi also had a brother who died young when she was still a kid. Presently, Nkechi is the only surviving member of her birth family.

Nkechi Blessing attended Olu Abiodun Nursery and Primary School for her primary school education and Barachel Model College for secondary school. She later underwent a 6-month diploma program in Theater Arts at the Lagos State University. She later obtained her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations at Houdegbe North American University, Benin Republic.

Her performance in ‘Omo Bewaji’ brought her a little fame and introduced her to other big players in the industry. She met filmmakers Emeka Duru and Emem Isong, the latter of whom agreed to cast her in her movie titled ‘Through The Fire & Entanglement’ in 2009. Nkechi Blessing finally got her first big break in 2012 from the movie ‘Kafila Omo Ibadan’ which saw her cast in her very first lead role.

Her next big role came in the form of a Nollywood box office hit, ‘Omoge Lekki.’ The movie featured actresses like Yinka Quadri and Mercy Aigbe and was one of the most successful movies of 2015. ‘Omoge Lekki’ won several awards, including a MAYA Award and one Nollywood Awards nomination.

Nkechi then featured in the 2018 paranormal film, ‘The Ghost and the Tout’, where she played a character named Dora. Her performance earned her an award for ‘The most Promising Actress of the Year’ at the 2018 City People Movie Award. She then featured in ‘Fate of Alakada’ as Bisi.

The beautiful actress is currently single, but she hasn’t always been. According to confirmed reports, not too long ago, she tied the nuptial knot with Ekiti politician Falegan Opeyemi David. Not much is known about Opeyemi Falegan, but on Instagram, he prefers to describe himself as the ‘Husband of all widows’, British military personnel, philanthropist, and CEO of the ODF Foundation.

He began his foundation in 2015, after the death of his father. His mother’s poor living conditions at the time inspired him to particularly pay attention to helping poor widows in his community. While Nkechi’s wedding to the renowned politician isn’t public, the actress announced her wedding on June 10, 2021, on Instagram. She did this by shading their wedding photos on her Instagram story. Their marriage was quite rocky and lasted only 10 months.

What Happened to Nkechi Blessing’s Marriage?

Like clockwork, Nkechi announced her divorce on April 6, 2022, via Instagram again. Their divorce was messy, as both partners called each other out on social media, literally exposing their dirty linen with Falegan being severely dragged on the media for being a ‘serial cheat.’

The whole episode started in June 2021 when a controversial blogger, Cutie Jules, called out the politician for reaching out to one of her daughters while he and his actress wife were still an item. The said lady lashed out at Falegan for denying Nkechi as his wife and went further to report the incident to the actress, who escalated the issue, and they fought dirty over it.

Opeyemi revealed that he opted out of his marriage to Nkechi because of her alleged poor hygiene. The actress clapped back immediately and strongly denied all the allegations. The couple had no children together, but Nkechi Blessing Sunday is a mother of one son, King Elijah Success, whom she welcomed on April 3, 2019.

Elija, who is currently 7 years old, is already following in his mother’s footsteps and is currently a brand ambassador for a well-known Nigerian cosmetic line.
