a. Every candidate seeking admission into the Academy must be a Nigerian citizen between 17 and 22 years of age.
b. The required height should not be less than 1.62 Metres (5 Feet 4 Inches) for a female and 1.67 Metres (5 Feet 6 Inches) for a male. A male candidate should also have an expanded chest size of not less than 86cm (34 Inches for those between 21 and 22 years of age).
c. The students must undergo and pass the physical and psychological tests of fitness. No candidate with any physical deformity or mental disability will be accepted.
Educational Requirements
- You need your O-level Result, which could be WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB. The result must also have at least five credit passes, including the English Language. Though combined results are accepted, it mustn’t be more than two sittings.
- You are also expected to have a good JAMB result before getting the application form, as it will be useful during screening. At least, you are expected to score not less than 180 in the UTME result you wish to use.
- Although it does not often matter, it is better to make the NPA your first choice of institution while registering for Jamb.
Other Key Facts You Should Note
- The selection of prospective candidates into the NPA is made on a quota basis. This means that each state that makes up the federation is given an equal slot of 12 persons. Selection begins from the state level to zonal level and, finally, the Force Headquarters Abuja.

The cost of education at the Nigeria Police Academy is totally free.
