Jose Mourinho Happy Over Man United’s First Game Win


Jose Mourinho fondly called the ‘Special One’ is pleased with Manchester United’s comfortable win in their first game with him as coach.

Mourinho expressed his pleasure with how the Red Devils played during his first game in charge at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils easily strolled to a 2-0 victory over Championship side Wigan Athletic.

The Jose Mourinho era at United began with a comfortable win over Wigan, with goals from Will Keane and Andreas Pereira settling a low-key pre-season friendly at the DW Stadium on Saturday.

United controlled a goalless first half before goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen saw his kick charged down by Juan Mata in the 48th minute and Keane nabbed the first goal of Mourinho’s reign.

Pereira found the top corner nine minutes later to secure the result.

United Secure First Win With Mourinho

Mourinho selected new signings Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in his starting line up for the clash. Although the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney were not involved after their Euro 2016 exploits.

Speaking after the match, a satisfied Mourinho praised his players as well as lauded his new club’s supporters who sang his name during the match.

He didn’t fail to acknowledge a lack of match sharpness and conditioning within his squad.

An obviously elated Mourinho told Manchester United TV saying:

“I’m very happy. The result is obviously not the most important thing but it is always important.

“They’re starting to think football the way I think.”

Man U’s win over Wigan according to pundits is evidence of the player’s efforts to implement the new principles Mourinho has brought to United.

Mourinho, 2010 FIFA World Coach of the Year seemed touched by the fans’ unwavering encouragement today.

He also promised that if they are patient with him, he will ‘give them everything’ and bring about the results they so desperately want.
