Mohbad (Real Name: Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, born 8th June 1996; Age: 27 years old) is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, rapper, and stage performer famously known for his 2020 hit song, Ko Po Ke (KPK).

Mohbad began singing in 2016 but gained considerable fame in 2019. Alongside Joeboy, Rema, and Fireboy DML, he was listed among the young artists to look out for in 2020. Mohbad has since been doing impressively on the music front with the hit records he continually drops. Some of his best songs include Komajensun, KPK, Ponmo, Real Hustlers, Gumbody, Ronaldo, and many others.

Who Is Mohbad and How Old Is He?

Mohbad was born on 8th June 1996 into a middle-class Yoruba family in Lagos State. His real name is Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, and he is currently 27 years old. Mohbad reportedly has other siblings alongside whom he grew up, but there is no information about them.

He received his primary and secondary education in Lagos State where he obtained his FSLC and SSCE certificates. According to Mohbad, growing up in the neighborhoods of Lagos played a huge role in his singing pattern. Meanwhile, no record shows that the singer is a university graduate or attending anyone as of this writing.

Who Is Mohbad’s Father?

Mohbad seems to be a private person, hence, does not bring his personal and family life to the media. However, the young artist is known to come from a Christian family where the parents attend the white garment church (cele).

His father is a pastor at the church (a cele prophet). Mohbad once reposted his father’s birthday post and wished him a happy birthday. We do not know if the singer is also following in his parents’ footsteps or has changed to another church.

Mohbad Started His Singing Career in 2016

The Ko Po Ke (KPK) crooner, at a very tender age, grew an interest in music and began to take part in some of the activities of his school music band. Then, in 2016, he started doing covers for well-known Nigerian artists and did quite a number of them.

Some of the artists he covered in their songs include Kizz Daniel and Tekno. He also was releasing Freestyles on his IG and Twitter pages, and the one he did for Kizz Daniel’s Fvck You caught the attention of The Marlian Records boss, Naira Marley.

Mohbad had his big break in 2019 after Naira Marley called him up to be part of The Marlian Music. He was signed alongside other newbies in the industry like Zinoleesky, CBlack, and Fabian Blu.

This was a significant breaking point for Mohbad as he has been keeping it up in the industry since then. Under Marlian Music, Mohbad released his debut single, Koma Jensun, featuring his record label boss.

Songs That Made Him Famous

In 2020, Mohbad collaborated with award-winning producer Rexxie to release the street anthem KPK (Ko Por Ke). For over two weeks, the song sat at the top of many Afrobets charts and street pop charts. The song’s success helped him grow his fanbase, which further introduced him to the international music community.

Still, in the same year, he showed the world more of the stuff he is made of by dropping a banger, Balan Zia Gar. This is a party jam song that did nothing but set Mohbad just at the peak of his career. Following its release, Balan Zia Gar became the choice song in parties and clubs both within and across the country.

To round up the year in December 2020, Mohbad released the EP, Light. The 8-track project became an instant hit upon its release. This is the only EP the singer has under his belt so far. Mohbad featured notable musicians like Davido, Lil Kesh, and Naira Marley in the project, and that went a long way in skyrocketing him to fame.

Light got high ratings on various media platforms. MP3Bullet Ng rated it among the top Nigerian EPs of 2020, and Pulse Ng gave it a 7.0 rating. More so, it gathered more than 24 million streams on Audiomack in its first month of release.

At first, Mohbad started his musical journey with raps only. He subsequently began singing after he realized how competitive the music industry is. It has somewhat become a trademark in Nigeria that as a rapper, you should also know how to sing; otherwise, you won’t get the desired recognition or cash out big compared to singers. This saw Mohbad jump into the moving train and has also perfected his singing skills.

Who is Mohbad Dating Now?

The fact that Mohbad has gained notability in the entertainment industry justifies why people are always looking for information about him. But as we have earlier mentioned, Mohbad is a private person who does not bring information about his personal life to the public.

However, speculations have it that the singer is currently in a relationship with Seyi Awonuga, popularly known as Shigh Lofe, CEO of Bang Mewsic Entertainment. The two rumored lovebirds have been keeping the relationship secret, and fans can’t wait for them to make it public.

Even though he has not yet won any music award, Mohbad has made a mark in music, and it definitely won’t be long before awards come flooding in. Within a year of signing to Marlian Records, he’s already gained nationwide recognition and got his name associated with big acts in the industry, including Davido.
