Man U vs Chelsea: Jose Mourinho Not Out For Pound Of Flesh

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says he is not looking for revenge against Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final.

Mourinho who had a stormy exit from Stamford Bridge faces his former club side Chelsea on Monday. United who have bagged their first trophy – the EFL – under Mourinho are lagging far behind Chelsea in the EPL title race.

In a recent interview, Jose Mourinho explained to Gary Lineker what went wrong at Chelsea before his exit.

When Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2013, there was palpable excitement felt by fans. The excitement felt by both fans and management justified the millions Chelsea have spent since the year 2000.

One year after Mourinho’s return to Chelsea, they were Premier League champions once again. Mourinho managed to earn a very successful reputation during his time at Chelsea that he earned the name – the Special One.

It seemed like somehow, the Special One would never leave west London and his glory days at Chelsea. Mourinho had done a great job assembling a great team that looked like there was not going to be any changes in the foreseeable future.


That was never to be. As Mourinho lost his winning streak and fell out with management.

Before anybody knew Leicester would win the league and then battle relegation the following season, Chelsea had the most spectacular demise as champions in living memory.

Even up until Christmas, they were within striking distance of the bottom three.

Needless to say, Mourinho was sacked.

Man U vs Chelsea FA Cup quarterfinal game scheduled for tonight offers Mourinho a chance to get his pound of flesh from Chelsea. Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be starting his 3-match domestic ban when Manchester United face Chelsea in Monday’s FA Cup quarter-final.

Meanwhile, Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte, refuses to be distracted by the mind games being played by Mourinho.

According to Conte, “talking does not win games.”

Conte said:

“I’m very focused on the pitch. The mind games don’t bring you to win, above all if you face a team who is focused.”
