Laide Bakare (born on 7th October 1980; Age: 43 years old) is a Nigerian actress and movie producer best known for her roles in Yoruba films.

At the age of 41, Laide Bakare established herself as an actress and producer, with numerous successful works to show for it. She has also won a number of notable awards for her hard work and contribution to the growth and development of the industry. The mother of three also has it going down well on the home front. Laide Bakare is from Ibadan in Oyo State

Laide Bakare is currently 43 years old. She was born on the 7th day of October 1980 to her parents in Lagos, Nigeria. However, she originally is a native of Ibadan, Oyo State, southwestern part of Nigeria. While her father is from Ibadan in Oyo State, her mother hails from Oshogbo in Osun State. She revealed that they are blessed with mostly girls and one boy in her family.

She was born into a financially comfortable family where her father owns a hotel and construction company. Not only that, her birth family was not only wealthy but also famous; their street in Ibadan was named after her father, that is, Bakare Street, and so they are known as The Bakare’s. She grew up alongside her parents and siblings in Ibadan.

Growing up, Bakare received both primary and secondary school in Ibadan. After that, she proceeded to the famous University of Lagos and graduated with a degree in History and Strategic Studies. She also holds a diploma in Theatres Arts from the prestigious University of Ibadan.

Her Parents Encouraged Her Interest in Acting

Bakare once spoke about how her parents encouraged and supported her acting career from the beginning. According to Laide, her mother used to cook for her on locations, while her father bought her the camera she used for her first production work. She largely credits her success to her parents because she said that even at a time she was looked down on in the industry, they firmly stood by her with a lot of encouraging words.

Meanwhile, Laide actually tasted fame from her childhood, considering the family she comes from. But that was nothing compared to the one she enjoys now. She got her acting inspiration through her father, who owns a hotel where movie actors regularly lodged for movie shots. By that, she grew an interest in acting even though he never planned to go into acting.

In an interview, she revealed, “I never planned to go into acting. At a point I thought about going into politics, but I don’t like Nigerian politics”. During that time, she said to be the one who assisted the actors in her father’s hotel whenever they needed help, hence, they liked her and also encouraged her to start acting. Today, the rest is history!

She First Acted on Stage at Age 19

Laide Bakare made her very first stage appearance while she was in her second year at the university. But, she made her debut in Nollywood in the movie Adeyemi and produced by Muka Ray. Her skills and exceptional performance in the movie quickly shot her to fame and earned her more prominent roles in subsequent movies. Since then, she has featured in numerous Nollywood movies, which are mostly Yoruba indigenous films.
