Pastor Tunde Bakare, presiding pastor of the Latter Rain Ministries, Lagos, collapsed yesterday while delivering a lecture at a dinner gathering for investors held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
It was gathered that Pastor Bakare became light-headed and collapsed as he delivered the lecture during the dinner, organised by Capital Investors. He was immediately rushed to the Reddington Hospital, Lagos where he was treated and discharged same day.
A close associate of Pastor Bakare, told SaharaReporters that the pastor’s collapse owed to exhaustion.
“Pastor Bakare has been making a whirlwind of lectures recently. He attended the graduation of one of his kids in the U.S. and has held several meetings in the last week,” the source disclosed.
Pastor Tunde Bakare, who is also the Convener of the Save Nigeria Group (SNG); a coalition of pro-democracy groups and individuals with a clear mandate to promote political knowledge and participation of the Nigerian citizens through strategic activities, is one of Nigeria’s most outspoken pastors, who has been critical of the Nigerian government from the time of the military junta till now. After decades of speaking truth to power and standing on the side of the oppressed, he has extended the frontiers of his political involvement in a bid to Save Nigeria, to Change Nigeria and to Make Nigeria Great again.
He was General Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in Nigeria’s 2011 Presidential Elections on the platform of The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
He is happily married to Layide Bakare and they are blessed with five wonderful children.
At the time of this report, the pastor has not yet been reached for his comments. We wish him quick recovery.
