Konga.com, one of Nigeria’s biggest online shopping mall, trading tens of thousands of items with nationwide delivery, has unveiled two new services – Same Day Delivery Service which makes it possible for their customers in Lagos to take delivery of their orders on the same day they placed it and Keep On Shipping, KOS, Delivery Service, which liberalises Konga’s hitherto exclusive logistics service, K-Express, allowing Konga ship orders for other businesses and individuals besides Konga.
The new CEO of Konga, Shola Adekoya, while speaking at the media launch of the two new services said:
“Konga is launching two game changers, same day delivery and re-branding our proprietary nationwide logistics service from K-Express to KOS built to improve delivery capabilities. With Same Day Delivery, when you place order on Konga for an item before 11am, rest assured that your item will be delivered to you the same day. When you order after 11am, the item will be delivered to you on or before 12 noon the next day. This service is available from Monday through Saturday in Lagos metropolis for now but will expand to other locations across the country shortly.”
Also speaking at the occasion was Konga’s Director of Fulfilment Operations, Mr. Wale Adisa who said that considering the experience built over 18 months and the company’s wide reach in all the state capitals in Nigeria, KOS has been re-branded to grow the ecosystem by opening up Konga’s ability to deliver promptly and in good condition to corporate bodies, e-commerce and individuals in all the 36 states in Nigeria.
The idea of placing an order for goods online and receiving it at your door step on the same day have always been an undeniably attractive prospect to the business of online shopping in Nigeria. There’s an assumption that if many e-commerce platforms in Nigeria are to record a lot more traffic following the patronage of most Nigerians who are yet to be fully active in online shopping, prompt delivery among other things would be one of the easiest ways to bring them on-board.
Konga first gave the “Same Day Delivery” service a try when it was launched in 2012, but couldn’t keep up with the demands of the trend as their daily operations increased. However, the company did not give up on the idea but rather, went back to the drawing board and has now come back, adopting a more conscious effort to get it right this time.
To ensure the success of the same-day-delivery this time around, Konga has chosen to start in a small capacity that is more result-oriented. The service for the meantime, is only available in some particular areas of Lagos: Agege, Eti-Osa, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikeja, Kosofe, Lagos-Island, Mushin, Oshodi-Isolo, Somolu, Surulere, and Lagos Mainland, while hoping to expand organically to other locations.
