Latest news report from the Kano State Police Command yesterday, June 7, said some gang of kidnappers abducted and slaughtered an 11-year-old boy in Kano.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Magaji Musa Majia, the boy, identified as Musa Salisu, was sent on an errand by his father within the Naibawa quarters of the city at about 2pm on Monday and failed to return home as expected.
According to the boy’s uncle, Abubakar Kafinta, who shared the story to our correspondent, the family became apprehensive when the deceased did not come back home three hours after he was sent on the said errand.
He said the matter was promptly reported to the police, while concerted efforts were being made to meet the demands of the kidnappers.
Kafinta, who was in tears, explained the anguish and shock the situation has caused the family when they learned that young Musa has seen the last of his days.
“We contacted them (the abductors) through the same line they used to call us this morning (Tuesday) for a deal only to learn that the boy has been slaughtered.”
“The abductors further gave us a detailed description of where they deposited his corpse at a spot on Eastern Bypass, Kano.”
However, the police spokesman said that two suspects had already been arrested in connection with the abduction of Musa, who he said was a Primary six pupil.
“It was not immediately clear that the boy was abducted, until three hours later when an unidentified source phoned the family members about the unfortunate development,” he said.
“The abductors demanded N500,000.00 ransom, to secure the boy’s release or else they will take his life,” he explained.
Meanwhile the uncle said the boy had been buried according to Islamic rites.
