Nollywood Star, Kate Henshaw Advises Ladies To Be Independent


Nollywood star actress, Kate Henshaw has aired her feelings towards women who depend wholly on a man for financial support. She urges them to wake up from their slumber.

The actress feels puzzled by any woman who cannot hold her own if or whenever the need arises. Here’s what she tweeted on Monday, August 22;

“I cannot for the life of me understand why a woman will not be financially stable or capable to hold her own if need arise. You are cut off from friends and family, and taken out to another country.

“Yet you do not work or even own a phone. Is that not prison? What if there is an emergency, what will you do?”

Kate Henshaw’s statement would obviously trigger conflicting feelings and comments from her fans across Nigeria, especially women as most men will definitely concur.

The 45-year old award winning actress started her acting career in 1993 and has featured in more than 40 Nollywood movies including ‘When the Sun Sets’ (1993) – her first lead movie role. Besides movies, she’s a judge in ‘Nigerians Got Talent’ show as well as the ‘Face of Onga’ spice.

OPINION: No one can disagree with Kate, afterall she had said the truth, but then the truth can hurts a lot of people; especially men or women who are in financial dilemma.

Being financially independent sounds appealing to many but certain circumstances or choices people make in life can hamper that chance. Rather then hauling accusations and criticism on the actress who simply utilized her democratic dividends, here are few guides for women on how to be independent.
