Ali Danmaraya,Vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state, has died. According to a report by The Cable, the 73-year old Danmaraya reportedly died at his residence on Thursday morning after a brief illness and has been buried according to Islamic rites at the Farm Centre Cemetery in Tarauni local government area of the state.
The funeral prayer was attended by Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the state, and his deputy, Hafizu Abubakar. Briefing reporters after the burial, Ganduje described the deceased as a hard working and dedicated member of the party. He said the party would miss him greatly because of his exemplary leadership qualities and kindness to the people.
Meanwhile, last weekend unknown gunmen invaded the home of Mr. Franklin Obi, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ward 4 for Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers State, beheaded him and took away his head, killed his wife, Ihuoma and 18-year old first son, Master Bestman as his 16-year-old daughter cried.
Barely 48 hours later, another member of the party, Ofinijite Amachree, was reportedly burnt alive in Buguma, Asari-Toru Local Government of the state.
According to reports, four other APC members were killed in Obibi, Etche local government, while Gabriel Cookey was smashed to death in Opobo, headquarters of Opobo/Nkoro
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC,) has decried the recent killing of its members in Rivers State. The party’s National Working Committee, in a statement Wednesday March 9, urged security agencies and other relevant bodies to note the latest string of gruesome politically-motivated killings targeted at APC members in the state in the lead-up to the March 19, 2016 Rivers State rerun elections into the National Assembly and State House of Assembly.
