Today, 27th January 2017, marks the 45th birthday of Richard Mofe-Damijo’s wife, Jumobi Adegbesan and the veteran actor took to Instagram to share a sweet birthday message.
“Nah, this won’t be a long one,” he wrote. “Been saying too much of late and dragging you back into the public space you’ve warned me to keep you away from, you see, I’m trying but I can’t help myself. I must let the world know that you’re the strongest reason I can hold my head up high.
“You have covered my mistakes and shielded my shortcomings from the public. You know that if I could turn back the hands of time, I would never hurt or make you cry. Thank you ABK for loving me and helping us heal through all my failings, I am humbled by it all.
“Thank you for the privilege to call you my wife, I can’t be more proud. HAPPY BIRTHDAY my own personal Adunmaradan. God bless, keep and prosper you for me. Oluwaseunfunmi. I love you to the moon and back.”
Mofe-Damijo was married to the late May Ellen Ezekiel, a foremost Nigerian journalist popularly known as MEE. After MEE’s death in 1996, Mofe-Damijo married Jumobi Adegbesan. He has five children; four from Jumobi and one from his previous marriage to MEE.
MEE was an amazing career woman, amiable talk-show host, mother and philanthropist. After her death it took RMD a while to get over the woman, who he says helped his fledgling career. However, he has come to love his second wife even more than he imagined.
In a previous message to Jumobi sometime late last year, Richard Mofe Damijo revealed that being a superstar doesn’t make you a more sophisticated human. He used the same post to appreciate his darling wife for loving him and tolerating his farts and all his other inadequacies.
“All of you that want to be with me won’t last a week because I am not the perfect husband or father you may think I am. I forget little details, fart in bed with my wife, get impatient with my kids, have mood swings, squeeze the toothpaste tube from the middle, leave wet towels on the bed, yea you may think I’m cool and perfect but Mrs. Jumobi Adegbesan Mofe-Damijo my ONLY wife disagrees and you know what?
“I agree with her because she is absolutely right and the perfect RMD you perceive is a creation of the woman who genuinely loves me and is there on the sidelines cheering me on and keeping me grounded. “My prayer for you today is that you find the man for you and give you the wisdom to mold him into perfection. #RMDSaysSo.”
