Reno Omokri, a bestselling author and pastor has shared a touching tribute to former President Goodluck Jonathan on his 60th birthday, this day, November 20.
In his tribute, Pastor Omokri said Dr. Jonathan was the best thing that has ever happened to the Almajiris in the north even though they did not realise it.
The pastor who was also Jonathan’s former aide added that he remained GEJ’s life supporter regardless of what many nay-sayer may think.
Omokri said the former Nigerian president was also the best thing that ever happened to democracy in Nigeria.
Below is the tribute:
“Dear President Jonathan, I don’t care what anyone says, but I will support you under the rain and under the sun.
“You are the best thing that ever happened to democracy in Nigeria. You are the best thing that ever happened to almajiris in Nigeria though they never knew it. You were the best thing to happen to infrastructure in Nigeria.
“The unfortunate truth is the fastest way to go down life is by putting others down. The fortunate truth is that the fastest way to get up in life is by looking up to God in prayer then looking down to do your work or business.
“You exemplified this in your private and public life. Happy 60th birthday to the Face of Democracy in Africa, my friend and mentor, President Goodluck Jonathan.
Buhari’s congratulatory message is contained in a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja, yesterday.
He noted that the former president, within a short period rose from being a deputy governor, governor, vice president to becoming Nigeria’s President for six years.
According to him, Jonathan’s foray into politics and ascendency to the highest political office in Nigeria from a humble riverine background testifies to the greatness and inclusiveness of Nigeria’s democracy and serves as an invitation to all those with interest to add value to the nation.
Mr. Buhari prayed that the Almighty God would bless the former president with good health, wisdom and strength to continue serving the country.
Also, former Vice President Atiku Abubaka took to his Twitter page to send his good wishes quote,
A very happy 60th birthday to Dr. Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan, the Face of Democracy in Africa. Your words that your ambition isn’t worth the blood of our citizens will stand forever.
I wish you continued good health and wisdom. pic.twitter.com/C3xz8DvaC6
