Youths suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, reportedly disrupted a church programme attended by Mr. Godwin Ezeemo, a governorship aspirant in Anambra state under the Progressive People’s Alliance, PPA.
The incident happened yesterday, July 15, at Odoekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state.
Ezeemo and his team of PPA members and other supporters had gone on a sensitization tour to the local government to worship with God’s Own Pentecostal Church and interact with the party faithful.
Unfortunately, their mission was truncated when the suspected IPOB young men barged into the church brandishing Biafran flags and singing Biafran songs.
They asked Ezeemo and his team to desist from speaking and leave their place. “We have listened to lies for so long by these politicians and we do not need them any longer.
“Our youths are jobless, our roads are bad. We want our freedom and we do not want all these politicians here anymore,” they chanted.
Nevertheless, Ezeemo was able to address the congregation, while appealing to the irate members of IPOB to keep calm.
He told them that he was a Biafran in practice, given that he brought down all his investments to his homeland.

“I can understand the agitation of these youths. We have been lied to, for so long by these politicians, but I have left Britain to come back home so I can make things right. Just give me a chance, I will not let you down,” Ezeemo said.
Despite the dancing and singing of Biafran songs by the IPOB members, there were no casualties, even though the people were thrown into panic.
Recall that IPOB, on Sunday, July 9, maintained that the governorship election scheduled to hold on November 18 in Anambra state would not take place.
The group said that it will not allow any election process that would perpetuate slave status and misery among the people of the area.

In a statement by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful in Awka, the Anambra state capital, the pro-Biafra group said it had not shifted ground on the issue contrary to insinuations in some quarters.
He gave reasons why it called for the boycott of elections in the South-East and South-South, starting with Anambra state.
“Anambra election boycott will benefit not just Biafrans but other component ethnic nationalities in Nigeria as well. Our mission is to liberate the helpless and traumatised masses trapped in a cesspit of deprivation, fear and ignorance by the predatory criminal political class and their accomplices that man the security apparatus in Nigeria”, the statement partly read.
