Rema is 23 Years Old and He Hails from Edo State

Rema’s real name is Divine Ikubor, he was born on May 1, 2000, into a Christian family and was raised in the ancient Benin City, the capital city of Edo state. While not much has been said about his background and family, we know his father Justice Ikubor was a judge who sadly, passed away not long before Rema officially began his music career. Rema also had a brother who apparently died while they were still very young.

The singer grew up nursing a passion for singing and rapping and while he was in secondary school, he was a member of his family church choir. He attended his primary and secondary school education at Ighile Group of Schools, Edo State. He also did a bit of street performance before his big shot to the limelight.

Rema got all the support he needed from his family to pursue his career choice but his mother insisted he must also have at least a University degree while fulfilling his dreams. On January 7, 2023, the young artist gladly announced that he was about fulfilling his mother’s wish of getting a University degree as he had gained admission into the University of Lagos, Nigeria to study Creative Arts. He gained admission to the University at the age of 23, hopefully, he would be completing his four-year course in 2027, and at the age of 27.
