For the first time, an entertainment channel would be a part of Olympics media partnership in Nigeria, as HipTv has been appointed the first-ever official entertainment partner of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC).
At a press conference on Tuesday, March 29, at their secretariat, National Stadium, Lagos, NOC announced HipTv as its Entertainment Partner alongside three other media houses, which are AIT (Broadcast Partner), NTA (Broadcast Partner) and STV (Broadcast Partner) as her official media partners for the forthcoming Olympics.
NOC unveiled HipTv as her partner in delivering top-notch entertainment contents to television viewers across the continent during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

President of Nigerian Olympic Committee, Habu Ahmed Gumel revealed the committee’s plan to make Rio 2016 a memorable participation for Team Nigeria and the capacity of HipTv to bring a wider and entertaining coverage for the largest sporting competition on the planet.
HipTv will be responsible for bringing all the fun, passion, excitement and drama before, during and after Rio 2016 in Brazil with very exciting behind-the-scene contents that never gets on TV.
The urban culture channel will also be responsible for creating, developing and deploying contents in Lagos, Rio and around the world, as well as develop a massive build-up for the Olympics in form of campaign/events in creating huge awareness before the sporting event.
NOC reveals the appointment was based on the Station’s track record in quality programming and in delivering highly entertaining contents on TV. NTA, Silverbird, AIT and HipTv are expected to continue as NOC partners beyond Rio 2016, providing fantastic coverage of the Olympic games and related programs for free to the widest possible audience in Nigeria across a variety of media platforms.
This is not the first time the music and lifestyle channel will execute projects like this but this is obviously on a bigger scale. HipTv was a FIFA accredited media partner at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the Channel brought to it’s viewers exclusive experiences and behind-the-scene moments from the World Cup, the footballers, fans, tourists, citizens of Brazil and many more fun, exciting and thrilling moments at the world cup in Brazil.
