Guess Which Nigerian Entertainer Will Host This Year’s DALA Awards


The Daylight Annual Leadership Awards (DALA) has been scheduled to hold on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the prestigious Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. According to a statement issued by the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Daylight, Azuh Amatus, who also doubles as the Chairman and Founder of the awards, popular comedian, Okey Bakassi and Nollywood actress-turned singer, Jennifer Eliogu, would host the Awards.

This is the maiden edition of Daylight Annual Leadership Awards and the famous duo are expected to bring their combined wealth of experiences on to the awards ceremony to direct proceedings with panache and poise.

The duo has anchored several high-profile events within and outside Nigeria, and based on their pedigrees as accomplished comperes and entertainers they were deem fit as the best host for the maiden awards. The organizers believe they are thorough professionals and are pleased to work with them.

About Hosts

Okey Bakassi

Okey Bakassi was born on October 23, 1969  as Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule. He is an actor and a renowned stand-up comedian. In 2014, he won the “Best Actor in a Leading Role (Igbo)” category at the 2014 edition of the Best of Nollywood Awards for his role in the film Onye Ozi.  

He is happily married with three children and celebrated his 14th wedding anniversary on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Okay Bakassi was a former Senior Special Adviser to ex-Imo state Governor, Ikedi Ohakim. He is a funny but serious-minded orator and would definitely do justice as co-host in the DALA Awards.

Jennifer Eliogu

Jennifer Chioma Eliogu was born on April 30, 1976, in Idemili local government area of Anambra State. She is a graduate of Lagos State University. Her first successful debut in the Nigerian movie industry was in 1997 on the set of House on Fire. Since then she has featured in other movies like Jealous Lover, Power of Love, Bed of Roses, My blood, Submission among others.

Jennifer Eliogu is also the CEO of Initiative for Development, Empowerment and Absolute Stability (IDEAS), a Non-Governmental Organisation and is known for her fluency in English language.
