Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has made a U-turn declaring his intentions to run for a political position in 2019.

Buzz Nigeria recalls that Governor Fayose while addressing civil servants in the state’s capital in May had said he will not contest for any political office in 2019, not even a senatorial seat but that he would rather focus on advocating for a better Nigeria.

“I don’t want to contest again, not even for senatorial race in 2019,” he had said.

He said:

“I have a penchant for taking powers; that one in Buhari’s hand, I will take it. I’m going straight to that villa. I’m the next president.

“I want to be the next president of Nigeria. My own won’t be this change that has brought nothing, we are going to represent the people well and tell them the truth.

“I have defeated two incumbent governors in two different attempts. So, defeating the All Progressives Congress in the coming presidential election would be a walkover.

“Many did not believe that I can come back as governor of Ekiti State after eight years; I don’t know how God did it. This time, I am going to the presidency – God is taking me there but I don’t know how”.

He also took a swipe at Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi, former governors of the state, who are believed to be nursing the idea of contesting the 2018 governorship election in the state.

He said the people would not give them a second chance because they performed below expectation.

“Just because Ayo Fayose has won a second term to become governor of Ekiti, some people also think they can come back now, but I want to tell them that it is not possible.

“I am the man wholeheartedly loved by Ekiti people because of the many developmental projects that have brought great infrastructural and developmental advancement to Ekiti.
