Fayose spoke in Asaba airport en-route to Anambra for the conduct of the party’s governorship primaries in Awka.
He, however, reminded Buhari that Nigerians are hungry not only for food but for development and thus, urged the Buhari led All Progressive Congress (APC) government to face governance squarely and deliver the gains of democracy to the people.
“We are happy that President Buhari is back, it is a welcome development but Nigerians are hungry, they need food, they need development. We in PDP knows what is right for Nigerians, democracy is strengthened by opposition, APC should face governance squarely and give Nigerians democratic dividends’’.
After 3 months abroad on medical vacation, the President returned to the country on Saturday, August 19, 2017, to the joyful embrace of a relieved nation and a thunderous welcoming ceremony.
This morning he addressed the nation in a national broadcast.
In the six-minute broadcast, President Buhari addressed pressing national issues bothering mostly on the recent quit notice given to the Igbos in the North by some Arewa youth groups, Mr. President clearly re-stated what the Constitution says that every citizen is free to live in the part of the country, stating that the unity of the country is non-negotiable.
Meanwhile, while some Nigerians have applauded the president for the speech and termed it a summary of what is expected in few days, some on the other end rated the speech low following his inability to provide details of action-plan.
Analysts have pointed out that they expected President Buhari to give more details about his intention, whether good or bad, especially if he has a clean bill of health or not.
But his media aides, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu have since defended the speech, saying, Nigerians are already aware of all that has gone wrong while the president was away, and that going into the nitty-gritty was unnecessary. They said that in a couple of days, it would become visibly clear what Buhari will do, now that he is back.
