Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has slammed All Progressive Congress (APC) Chieftain, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for dispelling rumours of an existing cabal within President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.
Speaking to state house correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, on Monday, Oct. 30th, Tinubu described the rumours as a myth and fake news.
The APC chieftain also debunked insinuations that he was not in the good terms with the President and had been sidetracked by the cabals.
“I have confidence in this President. There is no doubt about that. We worked hard to bring about the government. There are certain things that are unpredictable and those are things that can lend itself to gossips, insinuations and all of that.
“But once you create leadership and is functioning, you don’t have to babysit that leadership unless there is a loss of confidence and I don’t have that.
“You know me. I’m not known to shy away from talking my mind and rebelling if it is necessary and taking charge of things that I believe are necessary.
“What is the myth in this leadership thing? What is cabal? Is a myth. We are the party of the people for the people and by the people and this is democratic environment. Each of us have our roles to play and that is why we are playing it. I don’t believe in the myth, I believe in confidence building, the trust that we have in the president,” Tinubu said.

But in reaction to Tinubu’s comments, Fani-Kayode described the APC chieftain as a shame and one who has no pride and dignity. On his Twitter handle, FFK wrote:
“Tinubu says that he still has confidence in Buhari. Poor him.
“Does slavery and the selling of one’s kinsmen, soul and heritage not have limits?
“Is there no pride and dignity left? Must some live on their knees?
“By the time Buhari finishes with him he will wish he had never been born!”
The belief by many Nigerians of the existence of a cabal worsened recently after the secret recall and promotion of a dismissed fugitive, Abdulrasheed Maina, into the civil service.
Maina who is being wanted for alleged fraud by the anti-graft agency, EFCC has since gone back into hiding after President Buhari ordered his dismissal and investigation into his reinstatement.
Controversies have continued to trail Maina’s reinstatement, especially given the way government has handled Maina’s situation.
Fani-Kayode has also reacted to the Head of Service, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita’s claim that President Buhari was aware of Maina’s reinstatement.
Stressing that the ongoing anti-corruption war is baseless and relentless persecution of PDP leaders, Fani-Kayode wrote on his Twitter handle:
“The Head of Service has said that not only did @MBuhari know about Maina’s reinstatement but that she also warned him about it.
“He also knew about the illegal disbursement of $26 billion for bogus oil contracts that were awarded by Baru without the knowledge of his boss Kachikwu.
“If Babachir Lawal and Ayo Oke are not prosecuted it speaks volumes about @MBuhari’s selective and partial so-called ‘fight against corruption’.
“Truth is there is NO war against corruption. All we have is the baseless and relentless persecution of opposition members and PDP leaders.”
