Brief History Of Nnamdi Azikiwe University

Nnamdi Azikiwe University sprouted from the defunct Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH), which had its campuses in Abakaliki, Enugu, Awka, and Nnewi. In 1991, following the split of the old Anambra State into Anambra and Enugu States, the four campuses were merged and named after Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Azikiwe. Currently, the school has its main campus in Awka and other mini campuses in Nnewi, Agulu, and Ifite Ogwuari.

The school, originally established as a non-profit public higher institution, offers programs and courses such as pre-bachelor degrees, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorate degrees in diverse areas of study. Hon. (Chief) Mrs. Uche Lilian Ekwunife was born on 12th December 1970, and she is from Nri in Anaocha Local government Area of Anambra State. Afterward, she proceeded to the University of Calabar to study Business Education/Accounting and graduated with a bachelor of science degree. Given her passion for education, Uche Ekwunife went further to study at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where she graduated with a master’s degree in Business Administration.
