A court has allegedly ordered the arrest of Tope Aluko, the former Secretary of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Ekiti State Chapter for perjury. The media aide to governor Fayose, Mr. Lere Olayinka made this know via a tweet, which read;
Court issued Warrant of Arrest against TKO ALUKO for Perjury. Police ordered to arrest him.

Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye gave the order on Wednesday upon following a suit filed by the Ekiti State Government against Aluko and the State Commissioner of Police. Adegboye said the order was granted as a means for the first defendant (Aluko) to attend the court for defence.
The statement issued by the court reads:
“The said Dr. Temitope Kolawole Aluko now recanted the evidence he gave in the cause of the hearing of the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition as a star witness even up to the Supreme Court. The Certified True Copy of the State on Oath, evidence of Dr. Temitope Kolawole Aluko in Court on the 12/11/14 and Nigerian Tribune and The Punch newspapers of Monday, 01/02/2016 that reported the interview granted are hereto attached.”
“It is to be noted that this if this act (Perjury) is not looked into, it will definitely defile the cause of justice and consequently rubbished the judicial proceedings.”
Dr. Temitope Aluko, former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State gave a shocking revelation on Sunday January 31, when he admitted during an interview that he had participated in the rigging of the June 2014 elections in the state and lied to a court about it while under oath.
According to him, the former President Goodluck Jonathan gave Governor Ayo Fayose N4.7 billion cash to prosecute the June 21, 2014 governorship election in the state. He said Jonathan initially gave Fayose $2 million in March 2014 for the primary election, which was collected at the NNPC Towers, Abuja. The money was used to defeat Dr. Kayode Fayemi the then governor of the state who was the governorship candidate of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC).
Aluko claimed to be making the revelation because governor Fayose has refused to keep his part of the agreement which was to make him the Chief Of Staff as a way of compensation.
“Before the election, Fayose, Femi Bamishile and I jointly swore with the Holy Bible on a sharing formula after we must have won the election. We agreed that Fayose would be governor, Bamishile his deputy and I, Chief of Staff. But the moment he got into office, Fayose reneged on the agreement and left me in the lurch. More worrisome is the fact that Fayose has derailed from the original Ekiti project we envisaged,” he said.
Mr. Lere Olayinka had dislodged Aluko’s allegations, claiming Aluko was only on a revenge mission against the governor because of his refusal to make him his Chief of Staff, such that he (Aluko) was not mindful of committing the criminal offence of perjury.
