Dream Team Set Eyes On Bronze Medal After Sad Semi-final Loss


Nigeria’s Dream Team eye bronze in the male football category at the ongoing Olympic Games in Rio.

The team had failed to win a second Olympic gold for the country after a sad loss to Germany in a tense semifinal game on Wednesday night.

The Dream Team will now battle for the bronze medal in the losers final game against Honduras today.

Coach Samson Siasia who was not at all pleased happy with the loss to Germany promised to do all that he can to win the bronze medal.

Siasia speaking after the loss to Germany said:

“Too many mistakes, faulty passes and you don’t pass the ball to your opponents and expect to win.

“In a competition, if you don’t win you are sent home.

“We are going to face it with all seriousness because it is better to go home with a bronze than nothing at all.

“We will go for it.”

Although he had played a good game on the night, Team captain Mikel Obi’s effots were not enough to prevent his team’s loss.was philosophical in

Mikel, however, remained resolute that the team will now go all out to get the bronze medal against Honduras.


Mikel after the loss to Germany posted on his Twitter handle saying:

“We gave everything last night but luck wasn’t on our side.

“We will keep going for bronze, to make Nigeria proud.”

Nigerian striker and highest goal scorer, Oghenekaro Etebo will be missed as he has been ruled out of the competition due to injury.

Honduras lost 6-0 to hosts Brazil in their semifinal game.

They would want to write off their shameful defeat with a Bronze medal win when they face Nigeria in Mineirão today.
