2016 seems like a good year for a lot of Nigerian artists to release their debut album. Rapper CDQ has unveiled the official cover artwork for his debut album “Quality,” and funnily, the cover art picture was inspired by Prince Akeem’s costumes (Eddy Murphy) in the movie, Coming to America.
CDQ released the cover art alongside other pictures on his Instagram page, expressing his gratitude to God and to his fans.
“A dude from the ghetto, slum, floor, project resting on the shoulder of success all because you gave me chance and believe in me…I can’t thank you all enough my fans and well wishers God bless you #Woss #QUALITY #ALBUMCOVER #GRL”#7DaysTo Go.”
The rapper also held a media press conference to announce the official release date for the album slated for August 22, 2016.
Formerly signed to management company, 323 Entertainment, owned by Teebillz, CDQ is popular for singles like ‘Salaro’ and ‘Oobi’. And although, CDQ once said in an interview that Davido almost signed him into his record label, he is currently signed under Masterkraft’s General Records. The ace producer signed CDQ in 2013, after he emerged the winner of a rap battle at the popular weekly concert, Industry Nite in December 2012.
Among the achievements of CDQ includes his nomination for Best Rap Act at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards 2016. He has done works with other stars like Reminisce, Vector, Olamide amongst others and is set to drop his own major project.
