The remains of Mrs. Caroline Onoh, the wife of a former Governor of old Anambra State, Christian Onoh and and mother of former Ambassador to Spain, Bianca Ojukwu was finally laid to rest Yesterday Friday 5th August, at Ngwo in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State amidst tributes.
The deceased who died in June at the ripe aged of 81, was buried after a requiem mass held at the Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu. The occasion was graced by dignitaries, who came to pay their last respect to late Mrs. Onoh.
At the funeral were Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and his wife; the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu; the Governor of Ebonyi State who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Bernard Ugwu; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Barr. Geoffrey Onyeama, Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and wife Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi.
Others include former governors of Anambra and Ebonyi States, Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Martin Elechi respectively and Archbishop of Enugu Province (Anglican Communion), Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma among others.
Speaking , Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, described late Mrs. Onoh as a virtuous woman of exemplary character who inspired many with her selflessness, humility, simplicity and sincerity. He said:
“We take solace in the worthy legacies left by her and we will remain eternally grateful to God for the gift of our late mother.”
The Principal of the College of Immaculate Conception, (CIC), Enugu, Rev. Fr. Nnamdi Nwankwo, described Mrs. Caroline Onoh as a devout Christian, who devoted her life to the welfare of others.
Nwankwo also described her as “humane” and “a pillar” to the successes recorded by her late husband, who was popularly known as C.C. Onoh.
