Chinese Transfer Makes Carlos Tevez World’s Highest-Paid Footballer

Argentine striker Carlos Tevez has officially completed his move to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua, a move which has made him the world’s highest paid footballer.

Tevez signed a two-year deal with the Chinese team, on a transfer fee of $11 Million which was paid to Argentine club Boca Juniors, Tevez’s recently former club. Tevez himself is going to make a whopping $41 million a year, much more than any other footballer ever got paid by his club, in the history of football.

A statement on the Shanghai Shenhua website announced the official transfer. It states:

“Shanghai Greenland Shenhua FC reached a transfer agreement with Argentina Club Atlético Boca Juniors.Carlos Alberto Tévez is officially joined Shanghai Shenhua.”

Boca Juniors, on their official website, also congratulated Carlos Tevez, wishing him all the best in China.

The statement on Boca Juniors website read:

“After twists and turns…the second stage of Tevez at Boca culminates with two titles (Torneo and Copa Argentina 2015), where he scored 25 goals in 56 games played. Beyond his departure, the club and the fans will wait for his return so that he retires in the club of his loves. Good luck, Carlitos!”

Carlos Tevez is going to make $80 a minute, $4,800 an hour, $115,000 a day, and $808,000 a week.

‘El Apache’ is not the first top rate player to have moved to China from Europe. Oscar, the youngster midfielder from Chelsea, also moved to Shanghai SIPG – Shanghai Shenhua’s city rivals – for a sum of $73 million.

Other former European big names who have moved to Chinese big-money spenders Shanghai Shenhua, include Damba Ba, Obafemi Martins. Even the coach of the Chinese club is a former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea midfielder and Sunderland former coach, Gus Poyet.

Carlos Tevez began his football career with Boca Juniors, before moving to Brazil to play for Brazilian outfit Corinthians. From there, he made his way to West Ham together with countryman and teammate Javier Mascherano.

His quality attracted big clubs immediately, and after being voted the club’s player of the year in his first season, he went on loan to English top club Manchester United, where – under the tutelage of legend Alex Ferguson – he won two Premier League titles, as well as the 2008 UEFA Champions League.

From Manchester United, Tevez moved to Man Utd’s city rival, Manchester City, from where he moved to Juventus after he had a quarrel with the Citizens’ management.

In 2015, he moved back to Boca Juniors and have been with them till recently when he made this mouthwatering move to China.
