Amidst reports about the ill health of President Muhammadu Buhari, it seems campaigns for his re-election have kicked off in Benue State as posters showing ‘Buhari 2019′ have flooded the city of Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Employees who were returning to work from the Workers’ Day holiday noticed that the walls in the ancient town have been defaced with posters seeking the return of Buhari in 2019.

The posters were all over areas like High Level round about, fence and gate of Federal Medical Center, Wurukum Round-about and other areas in Makurdi Town.

The posters had the logo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, with an inscription that reads, ‘Nigerians resolve Buhari 2019, after healing come greatness, just believe.’

An indigene of the state who simply gave his name as Ogbole, while speaking with newsmen said:

“I begin to ponder what manner of people Nigeria is made of. We are having an ailing president that needs our prayer, but sponsors of the posters are making mess of the issue.”

Similarly, the posters were also reported to have been spotted in some areas in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The presidency is yet to react to the development as at the time of filing this report. A text message sent to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, yet to receive any reaction.

Meanwhile, a former acting National Vice-Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and ex-gubernatorial aspirant in Lagos State, Adedeji Doherty, has said that anybody asking President Buhari to contest the 2019 presidential election do not like him and Nigeria.

He made this known in an interview with newsmen (The Sun) on Tuesday, saying:

“Anybody asking Buhari to seek a second term is Buhari’s enemy. I believe that his family members will even persuade him not to run if some cabal wanted to push him to run because of their own personal interests.

“I don’t think Buhari is healthy enough to withstand the rigours of campaign talk less of now being in charge for another four years.

“Those wishing to drag Buhari into 2019 don’t love him. They also don’t love Nigeria. Campaign for the Presidency is not a joke. Buhari may not be able to withstand the rigours.”
