Popular Nigerian stand-up comedian Bright Okpocha, better known by his stage name BasketMouth, was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in the early hours of today, September 7, 2016, in his home in Lekki, Lagos. According to the information, the robbers carted away with valuables but no life was lost.
Breaking the sad news, his colleague in the industry, Bovi, took to his Instagram writing:
“@Basketmouth was robbed this morning in his home in Lekki Phase 1 between the hours of 2am and 4am, 7th of September 2016. He and his family were held at gun point while the sad episode lasted. Nobody was hurt. Valuables were taken including the cctv device. A report has been made at the police station. He can’t be reached at the moment but will be back on as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, on the 25th of August, 2016, the feud between BasketMouth and OAP Freeze took a new turn when the OAP threw a big shade at the comedian, posting a throwback photo with his wife Elsie Okpocha on his Instagram page.
In the throwback photo, Freeze was pictured hugging Elsie and planting a kiss on her cheek. As expected, it was followed by a war of words between the two men who have been enemies for a long time now.
However, Comedian Bovi wasted no time in joining forces with Basketmouth as they waged war against the OAP. A week after Freeze posted the controversial picture, comedian Bovi and BasketMouth’s wife Elsie shared the full and uncropped photo to mark #ThrowbackThursday.
“Freeze, Elsie and Freezes ex-wife! Before he became an editor of pictures! I unintentionally triggered the last episode of this soap opera. And I’m ending it. The victim in all of this isn’t Bright Freeze or me! May I never intentionally or unintentionally sell impressions that will hurt others. Rubbish.”
Elsie also captioned the photo on her page “TBT….Jason’s dedication 2008…Miss the good ol’days with you Opeyemi. #thankYouLordForBringingMeThisFar”
