The victim identified as Dr. Vincent Elvin Eebee was presumably trailed on his way from his office to Port Harcourt by the suspected gunmen who shot him, along with a 21-year old first year female student from the department of Mass Communication of the Polytechnic, identified as Miss Priye.
The students was with him in the car on their way from Bori to Port Harcourt. According to a source, the gun men gave him no chance of surviving, they shot him countless times.
Prior to his assassination, Eebee was a chieftain of the APC in Yeghe community, in Gokana Local Government Area of the state. He was allegedly killed few hours after the Rivers State Police Command declared ex-militant, Solomon Ndigbara, who hails from the same home town with the deceased, wanted.
The APC chieftain’s death also came about 24 hours after the House of Representatives committee on Army paid an investigative visit the state on the issue which transpired between the Military and the people of Ogoni.
On the 11th of March, 2016, the deceased was said to have writen a petition to the All Progressive Congress, APC, about the antecedents of Mr. Solomon Ndigbara, which he also gave to the Nigerian Army, the Police and other security agencies.
Although the reason for his death is not yet revealed, but it is well known that Dr. Eebee had consistently accused Ndigbara of heinous crimes committed in the Yeghe community.
The Rivers State Police command has confirmed the incident and investigation is still on going.
