Ogun State Police Command on Monday, announced a N5 million reward for anyone with any useful information that could lead to the rescue of a former minister, Iyabo Anisulowo, who was kidnapped last week.
The Ogun state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, disclosed this after a security meeting with some officers of the command and security chiefs at the Police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
“The Ogun State Police Command has offered N5m (Five million naira only) reward to any informant(s) who has useful information for the police on the kidnapping of the former senator and minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, who was kidnapped recently at Sawonjo/Iganokoto area of Ogun State.”
The police gave an assurance of confidentiality and security to anyone who would provide them with the useful information. The former minister, who served during the military regime of Gen. Sani Abacha, was reportedly abducted on Wednesday, while returning from her farm in Sawonjo in Yewa South Local Government Area of the state and has spent six days in captivity.
Since her abduction, security agencies, including special squad from the office of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, from Abuja have been working ceaselessly, combing the area in search of the abducted woman. Both the State Commissioner of Police and other senior officers from the State have relocated to Ilaro since Friday over the matter. On Monday, May 2, the police deployed two helicopters on surveillance duty as part of efforts to rescue Anisulowo.
