While Nigerians celebrated workers day, Nollywood actress Genevieve Nene, was on a slow journey to the land of the dead. Fast-rising actress, after a brief illness of typhoid fever which she was already recovering from, died on May 3rd 2016. The light-skinned actress, before her death, was a graduate of the Institute of Commerce and has featured in several Nigerian movies.
Her works include, Hottest Strippers, Hottest Virgins, Quest Of A Life Time, Romantic Heart, Mistake Women Make, Secret Mansion, Dorobucci Love, Love Wahala , Cheta, trap, Game Of Pleasure, Amaka The Patient Girl and others. The Ebonyi state-born actress is also a video vixen and has appeared in music videos like ‘Aiye Miami’ by Lace featuring Reekado Banks and Pasuma, Samklef’s ‘Birthday Girl’ featuring May D and Skripture’s ‘Sweet Trouble’.
With the number of celebrity deaths in recent times, its high time the Nigerian entertainment industry commits their people into God’s hands while adapting a safe and healthy life. Genevieve Nene’s last post on her social media page was on April 26, 2016 at 7:34 pm when she said “Rocking my silk print playsuit by @bebeauglam check out her page for more details.”
Her Facebook wall is filled with condolence messages from friends and fans. Celebrities like pop star Samklef and movie maker, Ike Nnaebue, have taken to Instagram to mourn the young actress whose life was cut short even before the world heard her name. The illness which led to Genevieve’s death has been going on for a while, although she continued working on movie sets till few days ago when her health went downhill.
Nene’s death has been confirmed by Ike Nnaebue. He posted a picture of Genevieve Nene on Instagram in the early hours of Wednesday, May 4, 2016 and captioned it: “RIP @genevievenene this is most shocking… #RealGoneTooSoon”.
