Since the passage of the not too young to lead bill by the senate, several Nigerian Celebrities has not only indicated their interest in politics but are contesting for governorship position in Anambra, Benue and Imo state.
In the past few weeks, Nollywood actor, Yule Edochie and music icon KCee (Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo) has been seriously campaigning for leadership in Anambra via their social media platform as well as physically.
But the aforementioned are not the only Nigerian celebrities aspiring to be governors in their state of origin. Others include Gabrial Oche Amanyi, a.k.a. Terry G and Samuel Oguachuba, a.k.a. Samkleff.
Nigerian Celebrities Contesting for Governorship
Yul Edochie – Anambra State
Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie took the media by surprise when he posted a political campaign logo on social media platform tagged: “The Last Bus Stop.”
He started his campaign in mid-July when he declared that Anambra state needs young vibrant and intelligent leaders who will put the masses first.
Yul Edochie who’s also the son of veteran actor, Pete Edochie shared his vision as thus:
“My vision is to make Anambra state THE LAST BUS STOP for investment, tourism and opportunities.
“A state where dreams come true, where people assist one another to progress.
“An Anambra where everyone is happy.
“My mission is to create equal opportunities for every Anambra indigene, create a conducive state for everyone to live in and invest in, eradicate poverty completely and make Anambra state the best part of the world to live in.
“Truly, THE LAST BUS STOP!!!”
2. Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo (KCee) – Anambra State
The Limpopo crooner is second on our list of Nigerian celebrities aspiring for Anambra state governorship position with the mantra, “Attention to Details.”
KCee has also released an album with the aforementioned mantra to further support his governorship campaign project. According to him, the projects must have one sole purpose which is “impacting the lives of the masses.”
Below is what KCee said on his IG page:
“I’m so impressed that we still have citizens of this great country that pay attention to detail. Kudos to all who noticed the errors on the previous poster, it is in-line with our theme which is ‘Attention To Detail’. The world is watching and it’s time we all start paying attention to detail. We must all get involved in making this country great again.
3. Gabriel Oche Amanyi (Terry G) – Benue State
You might know him as Terry G, but Gabriel is another governorship aspirant who is at the mercy of the people of Benue State to decide if he is worthy to be their Governor or deputy governor come 2018.
In his speech via his IG, the 31-year old said:
“My people, the time is now. Power belongs to the youths. Say no to old cargo…Vote Terry G for Governor/Deputy of Benue State. I will make you proud…When I say Legalize, you say Ginjah.”
However, the Akpako master has received some back lash from some Nigerians who felt he should not be contesting for both Governor and Deputy at the same time since it is against the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
4. Samuel Oguachuba (Samkleff) – Imo State
Samkleff has joined the league of Nigerian celebrities aspiring for a political position. He aims high as he targets the governorship position in Imo State under the theme of “Precision” in 2017.
Despite calls for young Nigerians to participate in politics and aspire for leadership positions, this seems like a political flooding by Nigerian celebrities which makes it more like another show of entertainment.
But nothing spoil, if Donald Trump can become US President, then these entertainers must believe they too can succeed in their latest endeavour.
