President Muhammadu Buhari has sent the second list of ministerial nominees for his cabinet to the Nigerian senate for screening. This happened yesterday, Monday, 12 October 2015 and was announced by the Senate via its Twitter handle. This is coming just 12 days after the submission of the first list.
The letter was received yesterday evening by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki from Alhaji Abba Kyari, who is the Chief of Staff to the President. He was accompanied by Senator Ita Enang, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters and Honorable Suleiman Kawu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House).
As the screening of the first batch of the ministerial nominees begins today, we expect that the content of the letter will be unveiled today on the floor of the senate at the plenary, but according to reports which has found its way to the media, 16 names are purported to be on this second list.
These are the identities of the 16 ministerial nominees on the 2nd list, as read out by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki today at the Senate plenary (see video below). They include the following:
