Nigerian hip-hop artiste and Starboy Boss Wizkid has finally made it to the Number #1 Spot on the Billboard Chart, courtesy of the song “One Dance” on which he was featured.
Big Congratulations to Drake and Wizkid for the accomplishment. On Monday, it was announced that Canadian rapper Drake had gotten his first No. 1 song, having made it to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 with his collaboration with WizKid and Kyla, “One Dance.”
He’s come close to reaching that spot before, with “Hotline Bling” making it to No. 2, and also with Rihanna collaborations “Work” and “What’s My Name?” hitting No. 1. But this is the first time that Drake has made No.1 for a song on which he was the main artist.
Drake, who recently made it to the Forbes Top 5 Richest list of hip-hop artistes, earning his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 is really impressive, as the hard work has paid off.
Wizkid is definitely on fire this year being the first Nigerian Artiste to make it to the top of the coveted Billboard Charts. Featuring and Co-producing a couple of tracks on Drake’s latest album, Wizkid has shown the world what skills he has and the fact that he is truly building something legendary.
Signing top Ghanaian artistes to his Starboy label lately, hitting number 11 spot on iTunes downloads, and some other significant achievements lately, Wizkid is being touted to become Nigeria’s “greatest” artiste so far. Keeping up this momentum, we could possibly see a Grammy Award for Wizkid come 2017!
That would make him the first ever Nigerian Artiste to win a Grammy and undoubtedly become Nigeria’s greatest musician so far. It’s pretty certain that Wizkid will definitely not be resting on his oars, as the 26-year old is working really hard at becoming a globally recognized artiste, and something of a phenomenon.
