Wizkid: First In Zimbabwe, Now in Accra, Fans Are Angry With Starboy

Seems like fame is getting into someone’s head. Early last month, Wizkid disappointed his fans in Zimbabwe by not showing up for a sold out event, even while he was said to be in the country. He has done something similar again, this time on a stage in Accra, Ghana.

The Nigerian pop singer was in Ghana last weekend for the 17th Ghana Music Awards, where he won the African Artiste of the Year award. However, Ghanaian fans are saying they are not cool with Wizkid’s attitude on stage during the event. The starboy was reported to have smashed and broken a microphone minutes after starting his sound check.

Was it better he didn’t show up at all? In Zimbabwe, he kept his fans waiting for him under the rain, from 7pm  to 2 AM. He never showed up, neither did he send an apology afterwards. An attitude that indirectly translates to his lack of respect for the fans who made him.

Wizkid and Fans

Meanwhile, Wizkid almost got the hearts of his fans in Ghana when he unveiled three new Ghanaian acts, Efya, R2Bess and Mr. Eazi, that he singed under Starboy Entertainment Worldwide. But the character he exhibited on stage attracted several negative comments.

According to a source, Wizkid was said to express his frustration throwing some unprintable words at the director of the event, because he was delayed for almost 2 hours before he was called up for sound check, only for the organizers to hurry him up in the process – thus his anger. Currently, Wizkid is in Malaysia for a show, hopefully, he would not display another round of arrogance and anger, so not to add Malaysians to his list of angry fans in the world.
