Wait! I know you didn’t see the ‘question mark’ in the title. It’s a question based on some report and the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has all the answers. He has dispelled the news report going round that he had resigned from his position as a shepherd in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Senior Special Assistant Media & Publicity to the Vice President, Laolu Akande, described the rumour as ‘baseless and misleading’ and should be ignored and disregarded in its entirety.
Part of the statement read:
“Our attention has been drawn to a false publication by a certain online medium, IGBERETV, to the effect that Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has resigned as a Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
“The report is misleading and completely baseless. Prof. Osinbajo continues to serve as a Pastor in the RCCG, honoring the call of God on his life.
“He is in fact the Pastor-in-Charge of RCCG Lagos Province 48, a position he has held in the past three years and in which he continues to serve.
“This completely fabricated report should be ignored and disregarded in its entirety.”
The report had said that the VP resigned as a Pastor of the The Redeemed Christian Church of God because he could not continue because of his nature of work and the kind of assignment his superior sends him to execute. And that he would not want any of his actions in office to dent the image of the church and stain the reputation of the General Overseer.
The report added that he also said no politician serving in Nigeria to day has clean hands and a pure heart and therefore urged true men of God to disengage themselves from politics if they truly want to make heaven.
