Last week, Nigeria’s most celebrated living musician, Tuface Idibia, announced via Instagram, that he would be receiving an honorary degree award from Igbinedion University, Okada, Benin. Yesterday, the singer and his lovely wife, Anne Idibia, paid a courtesy visit to the Esama of Benin Kingdom and founder of the University, Sir Gabriel Igbinedion, in preparation of the award which holds today, May 10, 2016.
As custom demands, the celebrity couple went along with kola nuts and dry gin. They spent some time with the Esama of Benin, broke the kola nuts and drank gin together. After which they exchanged valuable gifts with Sir Gabriel Igbinedion.

The 40-year-old music icon gave King Esama an autographed copy of his book, A Very Good Bad Guy, and his most recent album, The Accession. It is really an honour for a prestigious school as Igbinedion to shortlist Mr Idibia among many others for a deserving honorary degree from the University.
Also known as 2baba, Innocent Idibia rose to stardom after Kennis Music released his debut album, ‘Face 2 Face‘ in 2004. His most popular song “Africa Queen” made his fame go abroad. Today, Tuface is known for good quality and timeless music. He is the Brand Ambassador for Campari, as well as an ambassador for National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control since 2009. The later endorsement was the reason Tuface released “Man Unkind,” to raise awareness on the menace of fake and sub-standard food and drugs in Nigeria.
The former member of Plantashun Boiz has had numerous to his name. They include; Channel O Music Video Awards, Sound City Music Video Awards, MTV Africa Music Awards, BET Best International Act: Africa, World Music Awards, Black Heritage Awards for Excellence and Nigerian Music Awards, to mention but a few. This honorary degree award from Igbinedion University will be another icing to the beautiful cake.
